An application for streamlining media

FFmpeg is a free software application that creates libraries and programs which can be used to handle multimedia data. FFmpeg was created by the FFmpeg Team and was first released towards the end of 2000. FFmpeg was written using the C programming language and it is available for a number of different platforms and Operating Systems.

FFmpeg is used in conjunction with multimedia files, it includes a codec library for audio files and video files that is used by a number of other programs. In fact, many of the FFmpeg developers also work on the MPlayer media player. FFmpeg comes with many features and components; it contains a command line tool that can be used to convert many different audio and video file formats; a HTTP and RTSP server; a command line tool that can show media information; a library which catalogs audio resamples and many more.

FFmpeg comes with a simple and easy to use interface and the program is available as a free download. FFmpeg was developed for Linux, but it can be used with Mac and Windows Operating Systems.
